Freestanding white cabinet in the kitchen

This freestanding cabinet was built to complement the main kitchen. It continues the same quiet white tone of the built-in joinery but reads as a separate object in the room. Simple forms and a Scandinavian register suit a minimal kitchen and do not compete with the rest of the cabinetry.

The fronts are closed and the handles stay restrained. Inside there is room for dishes, baking gear and the everyday clutter that does not belong on the worktop. The top doubles as an open counter and a surface for decor: hare figurines on a metal tray, a candle and a small plant lend a calm, domestic note to what is otherwise a working zone.

Daylight brings out the texture of the material and the careful surface finish. The piece takes pressure off the main joinery, adds storage and stays out of the way at the same time. It is functional and quiet enough not to date with one seasonal trend.
