Built-in cabinet with aquarium shelf
Built-in cabinet that mixes closed fronts with an open shelf made for an aquarium and soft LED light.
This built-in cabinet solves two jobs in one volume: most of the surface is closed storage, but the center of the composition is left as an open niche for an aquarium. The height, depth and load-bearing capacity of the niche are calculated for the specific aquarium, which means the piece was made for the client rather than adapted from a stock design.
The fronts are white, with a light wood accent added next to them to give the cabinet a warm note. Soft LED light above and below the niche creates a calm glow around the water and the plants without clashing with the aquarium’s own lighting.
The composition is calm and straight-lined, and sits well in either a living room or a dining room, where the aquarium works at once as a living element and as an art piece. The strength of the solution is that the aquarium is not a separate item standing in the middle of the room — it is an inseparable part of the wall composition.
